US Air Force modifies muscle cars

The US Air Force has teamed up with Galpin Auto Sports, famous for their involvement in the hit MTV series 'Pimp my Ride', to create two heavily modofied muscle cars in a bid to attract more youngsters into its ranks.

The X-1 Mustange is finished in a matt white paint, with an ultra low and wide bodykit wrapped around oversize black alloys. Lamborghini-style scissor doors add even more drama to the exterior, but its the jet-fighter-inspired cabin that's set to blow potential recruits away. Taking pride of place is a single centrally-mounted ejector seat, surrounded by hi-tech instrument panels and a flight stick, blurring the line between car and plane.

For those that prefer to fly under the radar, the Dodge Challenger VAPOR combines carbon-fibre exterior trim, blacked-out windows and an understated body kit to create a stealthy appearance. It's even covered in radar-absorbing paint. Inside the cutting-edge cabin there's room for two, and plenty of technology to keep you occupied. The aircraft-style controls are joined by a GPS tracking system, as well as thermal and night vision - doing away with the need for headlights.

Don't expect to see the military models in a showroom near you anytime soon, but they will be travelling the US over the next year in an attempt drum up interest in the American Armed Forces.
