DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE, you have heard it for about 1000 times or more. However please read it again and again. It holds a special meaning for each and every one of us.

Drinking is an adult choice, a freedom. Drinking helps people relax, lower their inhibitions, slows their reflexes which make them naughty and boisterous, joyful and amusing.

While this may sound like an attention-grabbing thing to do at a party or with your friends and it is not smart to do this before you drive. Keep in mind that the same acquired qualities, which might craft you the life of the party, may result in your vehicle being caught up in a horrible accident, endangering your own life, the ones of your associates and of blameless bystanders.

The belated brake reaction of a relaxed mind and the slight misjudgment of a drunken person, the need for a thrill or just some amusing may possibly change your life forever, if you have one left.

If you drink, then do not drive.

Do not sit as a passenger in an inebriated person's car - you may put in danger to your own life.

Before you choose your destination to drink, choose a designated driver. He should be the one who either does not, or will choose not to drink ANY alcohol and will drive you home.

We advise you to choose sober drivers in advance, on your list of attendees, relative to the number of vehicles nearby at the meet.

Please make sure you have a moderate ride to go back home in.

If that is not possible, either rent out a car or use public transport.

There is no tax charge on a director or employee within the benefits code on the provision of a car or motorcycle parking space at or near his place of work. Facilities for parking bicycles are also exempt.

The words 'at or near' are not defined in the Act. A rigid approach is not required. Apply the exemption in any case where parking facilities can be said to be within a reasonable distance from the place of work having regard to the nature of the locality. Do not deny the exemption simply because there is a car park nearer to the place of work.

The Transport Act 2000 allows local authorities to levy a charge on employers for workplace parking provided to employees. Where local authorities do so the employee will not be chargeable to tax on the cost of the car parking because of the exemption in Section 237(1) ITEPA 2003.

Fuel Cell Vehicles

Another type of Zero-Emission Vehicle is the fuel cell powered vehicle. When the fuel cells are fueled with pure hydrogen, they are considered to be zero emission vehicles. Fuel cells have been used on spacecraft for many years to power electric equipment. These are fueled with liquid hydrogen from the spacecraft's rocket fuel tanks.

Fuel cell vehicles turn hydrogen fuel and oxygen into electricity. The electricity then powers an electric motor, just like electricity from batteries powers the motor of an electric vehicle. Fuel cells combine oxygen from the air with hydrogen from the vehicle's fuel tank to produce electricity. When oxygen and hydrogen are combined they give off energy and water (H2O). In fuel cells this is done without any burning (combustion).

UK government wants to pay out taxpayer's money scrapping old cars

The government, under pressure from the car industry, is allowing for a tax-payer funded incentive scheme to offer up to £2000 off the price of a new car in return for the scrapping of a car aged nine years or older.

Now this won't work as anyone driving a nine year old car is either doing so through choice, ie the enthusiast and classic car owners, or is doing so through financial necessity. The classic owners won't scrap their pride and joy and if someone can't afford a newer car then they are doubtful to have the extra £10,000 that the car industry wants them to spend.

There is also the thought that this scheme needs to be applied to British made cars only, something the government can't seem to make their minds up about.

And the fact that cars less than nine years old may be subjected to higher rates of road tax...

Trucking is a vital segment of the transportation system in the United States. The Commodity Flow Survey estimates that trucks carried about $4.6 trillion worth of goods over 900 billion ton-miles in 1993. This report presents new estimates of the movements of commodities by truck to, from, within, and through each state. These estimates show the magnitude of interstate commerce on the nation's highways, particularly on the traffic that travels through states.

Major patterns that emerge from the data include:

* Nationally, shipments crossing state boundaries accounted for 73 percent of the ton-miles and 55 percent of the value of commodity movements by truck. A small proportion of the shipments account for much of the ton-miles. Shipments of 1,000 miles or more account for 10 percent of the value, only 2 percent of the weight, and 25 percent of the ton-miles of shipments by truck.

* Interstate commerce accounted for at least half of trucking by value of shipments in all but three states. The same is true in terms of ton-miles.

* Shipments passing through states accounted for more than half of the value of commodity movements by truck in 25 states, and in 19 states, through shipments accounted for more than half of the state's ton-miles by truck.

* The largest shares of shipments within states tend to be in states that are geographically large with widely separated major cities, such as California and Texas, or in the corners of the country, such as Florida and Washington. The relatively large share of intrastate traffic in Michigan is overstated because imports from Canada are not included in the estimates.

* The large concentration of truck activity in the corridor from Illinois to Pennsylvania clearly shows that the nation's historic manufacturing belt remains vital.

Get up to £5,000 for an electric car

The government is to offer people between £2,000 and £5,000 to help buy an electric car. The funding is part of the government's strategy to reduce the UK's CO2 emissions.

From 2011, anyone buying an electric or plug in hybrid car will be able to receive help worth between £2,000 and £5,000, depending on the cost of the vehicle they are looking to buy.

To be eligible for the hand-out cars would need to meet modern safety standards and have a large enough range and top speed to make them popular.

Transport Secretary Geoff Hoon said: "Cutting road transport CO2 emissions is a key element to tackling climate change. Less than 0.1 per cent of the UK's 26 million cars are electric, so there is a huge untapped potential to reduce emissions."

"The scale of incentives we're announcing today will mean that an electric car is a real option for motorists as well as helping to make the UK a world leader in low carbon transport."

The government has also provided £20 million to pay for more charging points and related infrastructure to help develop a network of 'electric car cities' throughout the UK.
